     Barkevious Mingo Color Rush Jersey

The New Orleans Saints added to star quarterback Drew Brees' already formidable array of receiving targets Dorance Armstrong Jr. Color Rush Jersey , taking Central Florida receiver Tre'Quan Smith in the third round of the NFL draft on Friday night.

The 6-foot-2, 203-pound Smith, who entered the draft with one year of college eligibility left, had 54 catches for 1,082 yards and 13 touchdowns last season. He was also part of a Golden Knights team that that finished 2017 unbeaten and capped that campaign with a victory over Auburn in the Peach Bowl.

"When you get a player like me you get a person who's a good ball hawk, who goes after the ball when it's in the air 鈥?50-50 balls, they're mine," Smith said on a conference call after his selection. "And a hustler. I love to make plays for my other teammates. The game is just bigger than me. If you want to win, it's a team sport. You've got to be selfless.

"I love watching teammates make plays when something I did" contributed, Smith said. "It makes me happy inside and it builds trust."

General manager Mickey Loomis described Smith as a receiver who has the speed, ability, intelligence and toughness to find a role in New Orleans' dynamic offense, even if it's blocking downfield for running backs Mark Ingram or Alvin Kamara.

"He's a good blocker. That's important for our receivers to be good blockers and he's definitely that Barkevious Mingo Color Rush Jersey ," Loomis said. "That's part of that toughness."

Smith said the Saints had told him they liked his "physicality" on plays in which he made key blocks downfield to spring teammates for extra yardage, as well as his ability to "go get the ball when it was in the air."

Smith was the first player drafted by New Orleans on the second day of the draft. New Orleans did not have a pick in the second round this year, having dealt that away during last year's third round as part of a trade that allowed the Saints to snag Kamara, the 2017 NFL offensive rookie of the year.

In Thursday night's first round, the Saints picked UTSA defensive end Marcus Davenport 14th overall after trading up from 27th in a deal with Green Bay that also sent a fifth-round pick this year and a first-rounder next year to the Packers.

Loomis said there were brief discussions about the possibility of trading up again, but it would not have been easy after the trade made a day earlier.

"We've pretty much shot our gun," Loomis said.

New Orleans didn't have a pressing need for a receiver.

During free agency, the Saints brought in Cameron Meredith, who led Chicago in receiving in 2016 before missing last season with a knee injury. New Orleans' receiving corps also includes Pro Bowler Michael Thomas, Ted Ginn and Brandon Coleman. But the club did lose restricted free agent Willie Snead to Baltimore.

"This is a case of 鈥?at that point in the draft, where we were at 鈥?this is a player we had graded the highest," Loomis said. "This is a player that we liked a lot."

Smith said he considers himself a deep threat and a possession receiver. Loomis added that the Saints were impressed with Smith's knack for gaining yards after the catch, suggesting that likely contributed to Smith's considerable average of about 20 yards per reception.

"I want to build a great relationship with Drew Brees Titans Elite Jerseys ," Smith said. "If I could, I'd be up there tomorrow."

Smith also noted that he hopes UCF's no-huddle offense 鈥?which called for him to play multiple positions, memorize the play book and routinely respond to a quarterback audible at the line of scrimmage 鈥?has prepared him to adapt to New Orleans' multiple offense.

Smith never played youth football, playing more basketball until high school in south Florida. He calls himself a "late bloomer."

But Loomis noted that the Saints' scouting department had high regard for Smith "early on" in the evaluation process.

"We're going to find out where we play him," Loomis said. "He's a smart player who can fill a lot of roles for us. ... He's got a pretty large skill set."

Chris Paul says that mid-range jumpers are like layups for him.

The Houston Rockets have emphasized dunks and 3-pointers in becoming one of the NBAs most efficient offenses but Pauls in-between jumpers proved to be the difference when the long-range shots werent falling.

I wasnt joking about that, Paul said of his layup comment. If (Rudy) Goberts going to back, thats what Im going to shoot.

Paul had 27 points and 12 rebounds while James Harden scored 24 points to power the Houston Rockets to a 100-87 win over the Utah Jazz on Sunday night, taking a 3-1 lead in the Western Conference semifinal series.

It showed a lot of grit for us to come in here and win two games, Paul said.

Paul, playing the sidekick to Harden for most of his first season in Houston, took center stage, controlling the tempo and getting to his favorite spots as the Rockets led from start to finish.

Chris is shooting those shots like a layup, Harden said. He was extremely aggressive tonight Authentic Cassius Marsh Jersey , which we need from him.

Donovan Mitchell scored 25 before fouling out and Joe Ingles had 15 for the Jazz.

Mitchell started finding lanes to the basket late and got the Jazz within 85-80 after he fueled a 10-2 run, sending the crowd into a frenzy. But Paul, who matched his scoring high for this playoff run, hit a pull-up jumper and found Trevor Ariza for a 3-pointer to put the Rockets back up by double digits and they never looked back.

Houston, which has been known for their offensive firepower, put forth a disruptive defensive effort.

Clint Capela, the anchor of the Houston defense, had 12 points, 15 rebounds and six blocks, one of which featured a Dikembe Mutombo-like finger wag in the fourth quarter.

We missed 22 shots at the rim, Utah coach Quin Snyder said. We had our chances and didnt convert. Some of them were contested. Some of them were open. Youre not going to get any better shot.

The Rockets went up by 15 in the second quarter before the Jazz closed to 51-46 on back-to-back three-point plays by Mitchell. Utah trailed 58-48 at the half.

Neither team was accurate from beyond the arc as the Jazz were 7-for-29 and Houston went 10-for-38.

Theres all different ways to win. Were not strictly a jump-shooting team, DAntoni said. Chris has the mid-range, James gets to the hole and you got Clint down there. Weve got a lot of other stuff we can go to.

Already without Ricky Rubio http://www.texansauthorizedshops.com...n-akins-jersey , the Jazz lost back-up point guard Dante Exum in the third quarter, also to a hamstring injury. Exum was a surprising offensive spark for the Jazz with 9 points in the first period, but picked up three fouls guarding Harden.

Houston is that good. Give them credit. They know how to control a game, Snyder said. In spite of that, I thought we just hung in there and took shots and kept coming and kept coming and eventually couldnt get over the hill.

    TIP-INS

Rockets: Hardens 14 first-quarter points were the most for him in the opening period this postseason. Flying to close out on an Ingles 3-pointer in the second quarter, P.J. Tucker raked the Jazz sharpshooter across the face and earned a Flagrant 1. Capela and Mitchell got double technical fouls fighting for rebound in the fourth quarter and Houston coach Mike DAntoni got another for his reaction to the play.

Jazz: Rubio missed his fourth straight game due to a left hamstring strain suffered in opening round but is close to returning.

    SHOT BLOCKERS

Rudy Gobert is a leading candidate for Defensive Player of the Year but Capela has been the most significant deterrent to getting to the basket in this series. He altered 20 shots in this game and has 13 blocks in the series while also making his presence known on the offensive end with double-digit scoring in each contest. Every single night, he has our back, said Harden, who got in Capelas face and yelled his approval at the end of the game. He doesnt get a lot of credit for it and doesnt ask for a lot.

Near the end of the game, Capela told DAntoni he needed a rest. But the Rockets called a time out and then the big center said he could finish. He went out and got a couple more blocks. He pole-vaulted over the hurdle. He cleared it by a lot. The guys incredible the whole time, DAntoni said.

    UP NEXT

The series shifts back to Houston for Game 5.
